About me

I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, with my bachelor's degree in international relations and global studies, in which I focused on generalized European studies and international political economics. During my time in university, I engaged in several academic programs, internships, and volunteering opportunities that have developed my skills in a variety of fields, all of which have helped me to become a more well-rounded person. As mentioned earlier, the specific focus of my bachelor's degree was international political economics, which endlessly fascinates me and compels me to continue learning in this field. This specialization makes me more fluent in financial matters and more attuned to the international currents flowing through these sectors. My education has also provided me with many opportunities to practice these learned topics in real-world contexts.

Currently, I am working as an Au Pair in Munich, Germany. I also work remotely for Soul Fixx, where I am working as a marketing assistant. Recently, I worked as an intern at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, Russia, in the university's English writing and communication center. This opportunity has shown itself to be immensely valuable to me professionally. My responsibilities include providing oral and written guidance to students learning English as a foreign language — strengthening my personal expertise in these areas, while providing me with a practicum in working in an international environment. The nature of this internship is such that I had to often see the same students repeatedly, and such an arrangement has made me more cognizant of how best to instruct them, ensuring that each student is receiving the very highest quality of education that I can provide. While working in the writing center, I also assisted my supervisor with research related to writing pedagogy, helping me to fine tune my time management and multitasking skills. My time in Moscow has also afforded me the opportunity to volunteer at the U.S. Embassy's American Center, teaching classes on the topic of American economics and politics through media production. This experience has already proven beneficial to me in increasing my understanding of cross-cultural communication and my ability to function with a wide variety of different personalities and working styles.

Another personally and professionally fruitful experience for me has been my volunteering while in university. There, I served as a mentor for several students from Saudi Arabia, helping them to adjust to their new environment. Since each student is incredibly different from the next, I learned to develop an individualized approach to each student — being a tour guide to some and a source of comfort to others. I have maintained these relationships to this day, and it has been extremely rewarding for me to see how they have integrated with such finesse into their new home. Such an experience, though, was not without its difficulties, ranging from a language barrier to cross-cultural miscommunication; these challenges have taught me to be adaptable both to the situation and the person, making me comfortable in a wide range of situations.
