About me

I am a graduate from Middlesex University with a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Illustration. Over the last three years I have built up my visual language ranging from a number of different materials and techniques. I have become more knowledgeable with digital illustration combining photos and drawing as my visual solution.

I have a profound desire in making my art a significant part of my life. The idea of communicating a thought in a visual language appeals to me a great deal. The photograph has led me to capture subjects and for me to express them in the way that I feel is best. My understanding in photography has developed vastly in the last year. I have had past experience with developing photos, but I tend to use digital images for my work. For the last 5 years I have become proficient and have gained a thorough knowledge of the programme Photoshop. I am able to modify, clean and enhance my photos to a high standard for my work. I am also capable to use other programmes such as Illustrator, Quark, Flash, Word and Excel.

In my three years at Middlesex, I have been taught to prioritise my workload. Working to deadlines has been an important lesson and one achieved. I have coped with pressure and effectively produced work to a high standard. This has giving me confidence to work well as an individual.

I have built up good communication skills with people. In my last year I was chosen as a student representative to deal with issues brought to me by students. I had to address these problems in meetings along with the Visual Communication Design board. This position also gave me a central role in preparing and organising the Middlesex Degree show. Having to fund raise, organise publicity, and gather the students work proved difficult but working well in a team of ten others proved to be a successful campaign resulting in good teamwork and a nomination for me to exhibit my work for the D & Ad New Blood exhibition.

London has played a huge significance in my life and work. I regularly visit galleries; having that advantage I have seen some of my favourite artist's work such as Edward Hopper, Bridget Riley and Andy Warhol. I have taken interest in poetry reading the works of Carol Ann Duffy, Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath. I enjoy listening to music and frequently visit the cinema.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time in reading my covering letter and hope to hear from you soon.
