About me

Dear Hiring Manager, As a recent 2:1 Journalism and English graduate with a strong will to work in the media industry I am seeking to align myself in a company positioned for strong growth. As you can see from my attached CV I have gained a wide variety of specific skills, which relate to working in media. Radio experience: My eight-month long internship at Hillz.fm community radio provided me with an opportunity to work on a popular radio show with other freelance journalists. Due to the independent nature of the project my role was based on different aspects of content production. I worked as a researcher, editor, speaker and was partly responsible for its advertising campaign. This gave me a valuable insight into the radio industry as well as production techniques and associated software. During the project I got to work with different sorts of people where various social skills were required to maintain an inspiring and friendly relationship with all the people involved. Writing skills: Whilst working at the Coventry Telegraph, taking various academic assignments supported by high volume of research and reading and, with a 70% mark on my final thesis I have proven my ability to express critical opinions, my excellent analytical skills and language confidence. IT skills: Despite that IT-related subjects never were an extensive part of my university course I have a genuine passion for technology and networking systems. My previous experience as a junior network administrator optimized my technical skills. Apart from standard qualifications such as proficiency in MS Office, IE etc. I am capable of performing much more complex tasks, to begin with detecting and solving crucial network problems, administering a server, implementing strategies to provide network security, competence in managing MS Windows, MacOS and, primarily, Linux in diverse desktop environments (KDE, GNOME and Xfce). Although I do not hold any formal degree in IT, I am constantly pushing myself to master my technical knowledge and abilities. Photography skills: During the last two years of my university course I took up the Digital Photography module as my extra program with the final result of 2:1. I have completed assignments in special events, conceptual art and landscapes. I am familiar with different photographic equipment and photographic manipulation of digital prints, using Photoshop and Gimp. I would be happy to produce my portfolio to demonstrate my abilities.
