Manchester United, the biggest club in the world and the first love of my life. The position of Head of Social Media is a prospect of desire and exponential opportunity to connect further with the global fan base. Being born and raised into a Manchester United supporting family, I have lived through the glory days of Sir Alex Ferguson dominating the football stage and now relishing the potential of Ole's team that he is assembling to make us a force in the league.
Manchester United has been my lifelong passion and seeing this opportunity arise I believe is my calling to forge a long prosperous career in an environment where I can truly flourish. In conjunction with my academia and social media experience, I believe I have the credentials and skill set to truly excel within this position.
I have extensive experience running websites and social media channels for European businesses. During my tenure at Staco Gratings, I spearheaded and drove the marketing campaigns across the group and inspired the other sales offices to create social media channels to further maximise marketing. Due to my drive, passion and vision, the commercial director of Staco Gratings personally requested that I created a marketing presentation to present to the sales directors to share my marketing techniques for the company.
After my employment at Staco, I decided to live with my girlfriend in the South of France, where I was contacted by an international offshore company Vos Prodect Innovations. Vos Prodect contacted myself after seeing the improvements on Staco's online presence and they were seeking to create a brand-new website, where I was tasked to content write and design. I had to quickly learn about the new industry, the company products and gauge the values that the company wanted to project online to the audience. This was achieved within 3 months and the managing director has expressed that his enquiry levels have risen post my input and efforts into the company website.
As this was a temporary contract, I then moved back to the UK in November and currently employed with Paramount Timber Frame. Although my role is defined as estimator, I actively requested for involvement to spearhead the marketing campaigns of the company. I am responsible for the LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages of Paramount Timber Frame. Working across three different industries gives confidence in my ability to adapt and tailor my language usage online to accommodate the new global target audiences.
Although I can discuss this in detail, I recognise the huge global market and fan base that Manchester United attain. I would tailor our campaigns to ensure that our global audience in the Asian. American and African markets are encapsulated, as well not neglecting the local and nationwide fan base that are equally as important. Manchester United is a global family and this message needs to be held to the highest accord.
I have many ideas on how to create and attain engaging content, ideas such as enticing our audience to perform indoor exercises during the COVID 19 lockdown, upload and ask the fans for their favourite goals for the nostalgia factor, educate the audience on historical periods (Munich Air Disaster) and provide updates on the hottest academy prospects, a core value at Manchester United. These are a few ideas to say the least and if I had the opportunity to be situated within the Manchester United environment, I believe this will cultivate a lot of success.
The two biggest inspirations in my life are my mother and Sir Alex Ferguson. Both hold incredible values of never giving up and demanding the maximum effort into everything we do. If I were to be given this opportunity, I would never see the position as purely a job, this is my passion and I share the same drive to ensure that Manchester United remains the biggest football club in the world. I would have absolutely no qualms in moving up to Manchester to chase my ultimate dream and as my mother always expresses 'if you do not ask, you do not get'.
