About me
My name is Angelah Sparg and I have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism degree at Rhodes University in South Africa. I majored in History and journalism and media studies and completed a fourth year specialising in television journalism. Having just moved to London I am eager to find work that will both contribute to and expand on my existing knowledge and experience as a journalist.
Thus far and throughout my degree I have gained a vast amount of work experience. This includes working at various small production companies, a radio station, producing a 5 minute television insert for a local tours group catering for overseas visitors, working as a feature writer and the editor of a free student magazine during my final year. Two of my inserts have appeared on local television programmes in South Africa. As my fourth year assignment I was the co-director, co-camera person and scriptwriter for a 24 minute documentary on the problem of HIV/AIDS and childcare in South Africa for which we obtained a distinction (copy of show reel available).
My Studies have equipped me with an extensive knowledge of researching, reporting, filming, directing, scripting and basic editing as well as excellent reading and writing skills. I am confident that the above mentioned skills will allow me to be a valuable asset within a variety of journalistic roles ranging from broadcast to print and new media. In addition to this I am a confident, reliable and positive personality, I adapt easily to new people and environments and am always eager to increase my knowledge of the industry and learn from those around me.
