About me
I have a Bsc in Clothing and over 12 years experience designing and developing multiproducts in Action Sportwear. Leisure and Lifestyle outerwear clothing.
My experience designing and developing cyclewear for Endura introduced me to Lycra and many more performance fabrics and I was responsible for sourcing fabrics, pattern cutting, garment technology and sample making.
Through working at Blue Associates I designed the One Body range for Tesco. There I also worked with Tog 24, Whitestuff, Hactac and Weirdfish, sourcing fabric and following their individual design requirements.
I have developed and liaised with offshore factories with numerous visits to HK.
I can identify the fabric performance requirements to make a garment for a particular sport, what types of fabrics can benefit certain muscles, which fabrics let the body breath and have better moisture permeability. I understand that sometimes it can be the way we wear clothes that make them perform best eg layering up fitted clothing for winter sports keeps the body warmer than loose garments. I understand the reflective requirements for sports played in the dark in the evening which maybe either hi-vis or reflective fabrics or trims
Whilst bringing up a family I had my own small garment printing business where I was sourcing tees, hoody's, sweats and sportswear to customise for customers' individual needs.
Computer literate in Illustrator, Photoshop, Word and Excel I can start the design process with freehand sketches, mood boards and fabrics.
Experienced in presented products to both MDs, salesmen and customers.
I am used to multitasking, working independently or in a team under pressure to meeting the critical path deadlines whilst keeping organised and efficient.
I have experience designing for a variety of products, spotting trends, researching competitors and seeking inspiration.
