About me

Hi there, I'm a Senior Designer with 10 years experience of weaving words and images together across all platforms both digital and print-based. I have recently made London my home, relocating from Johannesburg for a challenge in both my career and personal life, change and a new adventure. I come with the right qualifications and a great grounding in agency life. Coming from a mid-sized agency, and working in the following sectors: technology, software, aviation, tourism, retail, automotive, cloud services, tourism, medical/healthcare and pet-care. I love Graphic Design but I also have that creative conceptual knack of being an Art Director but happy to sit in both roles. I'm a stickler for typography and attention to detail. I love a brand guideline but I equally love creating one.

I was in a very lucky position in that after a year into my role I was assigned to a new to market South African low-cost airline, FlySafair, working with a Junior Copywriter as my creative partner, reporting into my Executive Creative Director and supervising 2/3 junior creatives and freelancers. I was in a lucky position in that I had great creative freedom from my ECD and from our client, who gave us great opportunity to push the boundaries and not hinder our creative ability. Working purely on this brand and facilitating the creative needs of every aspect of this business for nearly 3 years has provided me invaluable insight, acquired great skills and a great library of work. I became entrenched in the brand from its origins, as all I was supplied was an existing logo and the rest of the business from a branding and advertising perspective was a blank canvas for me to leave my mark.

The word 'accountability' is a really big thing for me... I find creatives sometimes can be faced with a brief and do it because it's required of them, and not doing what's right for the brief/brand. I think it's important not to take something at face value and to challenge it if the circumstance allows for it. Being accountable for the work that is at hand and ensuring it is doing its jobs across channels and the message is correct is integral in being a Senior Designer and I love making sure this is always met. As well as keeping and working to deadlines.

I'm confident in conceptualising campaigns and ideas and working across channels (both ATL and BTL). Digital wasn't really a thing when I started working so the groundwork to my career was print which with a great attention to detail I love producing but equally, I'm completely happy in the world of pixels. I'm well versed in the Adobe CC and love getting my hands dirty. I'm happy to work by myself or in a team, and I'm always happy to be client facing.
