About me

Angela Gourley is an award winning Producer, Director and Series Producer with over 15 years experience in TV documentary and docudrama. She specialised in high end adventure/Travel and history programmes for Discovery and Nat Geo including 'Lonely Planet', 'Bear Grylls Caught on Camera', 'Gold Rush', and 'Globetrekker'. She also produced comedy shows 'Borat' and 'Ian Wright Live' as well as factual entertainment and docudramas for Channel 4, MTV, ITV and Channel 5.

As a Series Producer, she managed large teams of producers, directors and researchers and set up complex shoots, often overseas and in extreme conditions. She put together and oversaw production budgets of up to $10 million, and supervised multiple edits. She was involved in casting and finding talent (actors and presenters) and has worked as a script editor and edit producer.

Angela has now moved to scripted feature and TV series, and is currently developing three features and two TV series with her company Amber Eye Films. She has just completed a Scottish short film which won the Alexa/Arri competition and has garnered several awards at festivals.

Her features include a comedy drama 'Bethlehem, Wales' written by Welsh writer Rhidian Brook, who wrote the Hollywood film, 'Aftermath'. A 'Killing Eve' style UK thriller 'Safeguard' and a supernatural horror. Her TV series include a co-production with Italy on a biopic about a butcher's son from the Midlands who founded AC Milan, and a Scottish comedy drama set in oil rich Aberdeen.

She is interested in genre films and TV series which have a strong hook and which blend commercial values with a message. She has a particular interest in projects with strong female leads or female ensembles.

Angela was a member of the 2018 BAFTA BFI network which chooses the best UK talent making debut features. She was recently awarded a Creative England grant for business development and strategy for Amber Eye Films, and a Creative Enterprise grant for two well known mentors in her field, Elizabeth Karlsen of Number 9 Films and Patrick Fischer of Creativity Capital.
