Dear Sir/Madam,
Please find my CV attached. I am applying for a freelance Copywriting role.
I have a very strong background as a writer. In one form or another I have spent the past 10 years writing. For my PGDip in Theatre/Playwriting I wrote a play, entitled 'A Flame in Hero's Tower'. For my MA in Creative Writing I wrote a novel, 'The Thinker,' and a sitcom episode 'Warthogs'. Prior to these courses, I won the Student of the Year Award upon getting a First class degree in English Literature.
Since graduating I have worked extensively on the London theatre scene, as a producer, director, translator and writer. As a producer for various theatre companies I have always written both print marketing materials and digital copy. I feel that I have a particular facility for this. I understand the importance of telling a story, building personality, and maintaining a consistent voice. Furthermore, I am extremely rigorous when it comes to the selection of language. Finding the right word for the right nuance is something I take great pride in. My work with online content has led to me having strong social media skills, too. I have a lot of experience with WordPress, resulting in a sound knowledge of SEO and Content Management.
In my most recent position as Executive Producer for Spanish Theatre Company, London, I was responsible for all internal and external communications. This was quite a high-profile position where I was developing relationships with institutional stakeholders such as King's College London, the Embassy of Spain, Cervantes Institute, and with Southwark Council. My work in the Spanish language included overseeing articles in the national Spanish press and a report on one of their national TV channels.
I would also like to highlight the fact that I am fluent in Spanish and can read German at an advanced level. I am also able to read French, Italian, and Dutch at an intermediate level. Perhaps this relates back to my fascination with language, which I believe to be absolutely key for a role in Copywriting.
