About me
I'm an experienced graphic designer, typographer, artwork commissioner and general problem solver with a range of industry skills and experiences. From making engaging and eye-catching publicity for science journals to managing workflow for English Language Teaching courses, I'm an able communicator who can work with a range of people and can build up relationships with stakeholders, peers and managers.
I took a high level of personal responsibility in everything I did to ensure the projects were a success. During my time with these organisations I have come into contact with, directly (people) and indirectly (course content) people and cultures different from my own which I found a positive and stimulating experience, particularly my peers.
Throughout my career, I have gained considerable experience of various design roles:
- Scheduling
- Design of marketing and publicity materials to support the course titles
- Creating specimen designs for covers and spreads/text design
- Collaboration with the digital and media teams to produce the assets needed for digital course components on and off-line
- Liaising with editorial and production colleagues in project teams
- Submitting cost estimates for design and illustration work
- Commissioning external designers and illustrators for a project
- Managing external studios and commissioning artwork during the proofing design stages for educational course title books
- Trouble shooting various design, technical and people (supplier) issues that often arise
- Getting the finished book designs to production, such as the generation of press optimised PDFs
