About me
I am a graphic designer and digital product designer with 20 years of wide-ranging experience. I am the founder of Baseline Education, a new web-based platform with the mission of elevating the quality of online design education and helping to open up the industry to all. I am currently spending most of my time working on this project, but I am continuing to take on some freelance work.
I have worked with countless commercial, public, and third-sector clients to design, build, and launch their brands and websites. Recent work has included the development of logos and illustration systems for CORU, a research unit at University College London, and for the past four years I worked as an illustrator, senior product designer, and latterly Creative Lead with Designlab, an online provider of UX design mentoring.
Outside of design, I have professional experience as a musician and as a project manager. Prior to my work at Designlab, I project-managed a number of government and NIHR-funded research projects at UCL, and that administrative experience remains a particular asset in my freelance design work. I have experience of working with senior civil servants, and senior NHS and higher education management.
Finally, seven years ago I also completed a PhD in the philosophy of ethics at the University of Manchester. That project equipped me with robust critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which continue to help me to work with clients to understand the challenges they face more deeply, and to explore a wide range of possible solutions together.
