About me

Hi,

I currently work for a digital agency called The House of Omni in the centre of Bristol. I'm looking to move to London this year as I feel that I've outgrown Bristol since spending the past 6 years living in the South West, I have a lot of friends living in London and spend most weekends there. My passion is user centred, functional design whether it is a web app, website or mobile app, the way we interact with these products is key. I have a strong visual background covering typography and print based layouts which feeds into all of my web work. I love being involved in the entirety of a project, from sketching and brainstorming, to wireframing, visual design through to discussing front end capabilities with developers and on to the deployment of the site / product.

Since reading Ethan Marcotte's book Responsive Web Design I've been very much into the new technologies that are driving content in a user friendly way to mobile and desktop devices. The last 3 projects I've worked on have been responsive sites, each with 3 to 4 states depending on the size of the viewport. This has given me an in depth experience working on mobile projects and realising the change in workflow and design attitude needed to tackle these tasks.

The most recent sites that I have worked on are on staging servers and are waiting to go live.

In my wider skill base I have very good written English skills, both a blessing and a burden, I'm currently the official proof reader for the office. I have a good knowledge of editing and Final Cut Pro, I have an in depth knowledge of Balsamiq (wireframing) and Napkee (turns balsamiq wireframes into HTML). Also some basic Flash and After Effects knowledge.

I'm currently putting together a solo exhibition that is opening at the start of February in my hometown of Worcester, which will showcase my illustration work. This is my passion outside of digital, you can check out some of the pieces here: */
