About me
Curbelo is a multi-award winning freelance illustrator and multidisciplinary creative.
She has worked as an illustrator internationally with clients such as BBC, Vice and Scholz & Friends, creating characters with a very distinct personal style. Her most notable work is her work for The Tampon Book, which helped change the German law and won several awards at all the major award festivals including a White Pencil in Impact at D&AD, and a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions, attracting worldwide press interest.
As a creative, she focuses on concept creation, coming up with innovative ideas for online, editorial and advertising content, as well as art directing 360 campaigns.
Prior to her illustration career, she was headhunted by the BBC at D&AD New Blood. She has worked for some of the most important BBC programmes and events, including Blue Planet, Peaky Blinders, and Top Gear. She has photographed festivals for BBC Pictures; art directed and overseen festival productions for Radio 1; created social content for the snap General Election for BBC News and directed talent on several shoots e.g. Kit Harington, Aidan Turner. Her work as a creative has won several awards and nominations at Cannes Lions, The Webby Awards, and Promax UK.
Curbelo grew up in the Canary Islands, studied graphic communication at Loughborough University, and now works from her studio in Stoke Newington, London.
