About me

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing with regards to the Events Assistant/Account Executive role; having graduated from the University of Southampton in June 2014, achieving a 2:1 in BA Hons Languages and Society (French and Spanish), I aim to pursue a career in Events & PR by which I can build upon my previous experience within the field.

During university, I undertook a 12 month, full-time internship with Publishing and Media group Lagardère Global Advertising in Paris, as International Communications Assistant. The position required understanding and execution of diverse roles across PR, digital branding and events, which included the creation and distribution of a monthly newsletter for both clients and partners regarding titles across the Lagardère range, composing and translating press releases from French to English, writing and proofreading articles on the internet and intranet sites, and producing ELLE and ELLE Déco client brochures.

The most rewarding role within this internship was assisting with the organisation and production of a 3-day seminar event in Paris for our clients and partners; liaising with restaurants, entertainment venues, and hotels in order to create an itinerary that reflected both the image of LGA was challenging and fulfilling. Working in a fast-paced, French-speaking team required flexibility, use of initiative and adapting quickly to new tasks. Daily roles included liaising with both International and French clients, which substantially developed my translation and overall communication skills.

Since graduating, I have acted as Office and Talent Coordinator at Urban Outfitters, a fast-paced environment where I performed a vast array of tasks, ranging from sourcing and hiring interns across 25 departments to acting as PA to the COO and Head of Talent; this has provided me with excellent multi-tasking and organisation skills.

I was encouraged to explore my passion for events within the company; aiding with Press Days, Career Days at Universities and acting as head organiser for the staff Christmas party of 300+ guests, which resulted in relationships with a boutique hotel and popular small-chain restaurant for future events.

Currently, I am interning at a creative events and PR agency Sister, where I assist with events for the prestigious Carnaby area, aiming to increase location awareness and sales in shops and restaurants, and am consistently building upon my events experience in a continually evolving environment.

Outside of my professional and educational experience, I devote much of my time to creative projects. During university, I was Event Secretary for the Art Society, for which I arranged visits to both local and London exhibitions and curated evening events for members.

I strongly believe that the combination of my previous experience in PR and Events as well as being self-motivated and dynamic will be an asset to this company.
