About me
My name is Amy Grover and I currently work as a photographers assistant for Matthew Donaldson, at his London studio. Last year, in July 2019, I graduated from University Arts London (LCC) with a distinction in post-graduate photography. Before this, I studied History (BA Hons) at Manchester University. Recently, I have gained a lot of practical experience with photography, both on shoots, in studios and behind the scenes. I am excited to now build my career in the world of production and communication. My most recent freelance work includes shooting for The Drop Date and assisting on 24 Productions Adidas international campaign.
I have a deep love and understanding of photography, fashion, publishing and lifestyle, as well as a desire to learn more. The practical and technical nature of my course, as well as my time spent assisting, both at Mum & Dad Studios and with Matthew Donaldson, has taught me how to efficiently run a studio and maintain high quality shoot results. I am keen to pursue a photographic career in media and publishing as I would love to be a part of the creative journey from start to finish, instead of solely freelancing as a photographer.
Having worked at picture desks previously, I understand the importance of curating a brand aesthetic aimed at a wide online audience, as well as picture research, archiving and image rights. From this experience I also gained strong communications skills, and often worked under pressure to tight deadlines. I am organised, hardworking, and pick up new information quickly. My love of fashion came at a young age, however my greater understanding of it came from my time at MATCHESFASHION.COM in 2018 as a Customer Care Assistant. Going forward, I would love to be involved with the curation of visual communication and image making.
As a graduate I am keen to learn and develop as an assistant and expand my skills within a creative environment that promotes both individualism, as well as team work. I am excited to now move forward with my career, working within a like-minded team, whilst also being able to bring my own personality, inventiveness and meticulous eye for detail to the table. I see this as a very exciting opportunity and a step towards my dream of being an art director or creative producer one day.
