About me

Dear Sir/Madam

RE: Graphic Designer

I am writing to you to apply for above position as I am a graduate who have worked for a variety of clients.

As an employee for your company I would love to put the skills that I have learnt to professional use and to improve my interactive web and print communication skills to further enhance my chances in a visual communications workplace.

Recently to help progression in other areas I was tasked by a colleague in another team to create a poster regarding a Health and Wellbeing Fair. Once I got the deadline for the first draft, I immediately created a list of questions ascertaining what and who was going to be at the event; if different file formats were needed for print email and web purposes; who was organising the event in regards to partner logos; where it would be printing and paper sizes. I also contacted the print room regarding CMYK and RBG requirements. Successfully, I was able to create the first draft a day before the deadline. For the first and second draft I decided to use Adobe Illusrator CC 2019. After I received feedback and keeping aware of the deadline, I decided to change the whole design using my graphics tablet and Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 to incorporate line art, typography and adjustment layers to create a well-received and bespoke poster that has greatly appreciated by my colleague and manager.

Furthermore, as a volunteer for Cambridge House I worked on numerous projects for various teams. For instance, for the Children with Disabilities Team I reproduced and a variety of icons that were originally pixelated for a catalogue using Adobe Illustrator, I also created new designs that were added to the catalogue. I also used Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to create various designs for other teams that I was approached by. They were very pleased by the results.

Moreover, due to the rapport I built with the team at Cambridge House, I was given the opportunity to produce some paid work which was, a logo for a group's social media account and a poster design for a health programme. For these projects I used Adobe Illustrator and a digital painting application called Clip Studio Paint which I taught myself to use via YouTube tutorials and the Clip Studio website. Both clients were really happy with the work I produced.

I look forward to hearing from you

Best wishes,

Amani Baker
