About me

I qualified in Retail Design & Design Management at the London College of Printing in July 1999.

My first position was as a junior interior designer/assistant project manager. This gave me the opportunity to gain experience in the many different aspects of the design process, basically taking projects from conception though implementation to completion.

I also undertook a wide variety of freelance work, undertaking smaller projects to develop my skills, knowledge, experience and income.

Due to the fast and successful development of my business I found working on various different projects at the same time was more stimulating and helped develop my knowledge and expertise faster than working at Maa and so I resigned my position and became self-employed.

Because of the overwhelming success of the business I was not able to develop any new skills. I did not have enough time to go on courses etc. and I could see that that technology in my field of expertise was racing ahead, unless I could keep up with the latest developments, I would fall behind and not be able to catch up.

In January 2002 I joined my current employer The Designteam, I chose this company largely because of their views on staff training and development. They consider it essential to keep up to date with the latest computer technology. The company are market leaders in ship design and I have worked on many major projects such as the Queen Mary 2 and Ultra Voyager.

I have been on the following courses since starting with Design team, Advanced Photoshop, Lightwave 3D and Vector Works.

With all the new skills I now have, I feel ready to develop my position and advance, however, whilst I have gained vast experience working here, the company is quite small, and there is no opportunity for promotion into a senior design position.

I am looking for a job that enables me to utilise all those new learnt skills and stretch my abilities.
