Dear short listing panel,

I am writing to you in support of my application.

I am currently working for British Gas in their Cardiff Service call centre while I look to further my career. The role involves a risk assessment of each claim and the planning and arrangement of available appointments. Some technical and safety advice is also offered to customers if the need arises. I have received praise for my ability to communicate with customers by my peers and also to remain calm under pressure.

After leaving school I trained as a heating and ventilation engineer before being employed as an Air conditioning/refrigeration engineer. I felt during this period that my creative ability was going to waste so I gained qualifications in 2D computer Aided Design which helped me to not only read technical drawings but also create them.

For my degree I trained in the use of Adobe Photoshop to a very high level, I have used my education to proficiently create, edit and manipulate imagery to be published for a professional standard. I also have an extensive understanding and working knowledge of the full Adobe Creative suit including Adobe After FX/ Adobe Premiere that I can use to creatively edit and construct both audio and visual assets. My degree was projected based, each project had to be managed and planned out before work was undertaken to get the best results, time management was a big part of the course and I feel that the skills needed to gain the degree could be used to succeed in any role.

Having written a dissertation for my honours degree and attained a pass mark in key skills communication level 3 (equivalent to A level English) I possess a good grasp of the English language. Excellent writing skills have helped me to develop and I feel confident when communicating across all formats.

My personal attributes are a positive mindset with a good sense of humour, I am organised and always willing to undertake further training where needed. I love to cook for my family and can often be found in my kitchen experimenting with world foods. I have picked up many DIY skills while having spent most of my time working on renovating my home. These skills are transferable to the work place and especially in the design environment. I feel I would be a good candidate for the position because I am a fast learner with the drive to further myself. I can work to design briefs and meet deadlines; I have a logical mindset but also possess a creative flair. I am a reflective person and constantly review my work and value feedback from others.
