About me

I am a journalist with close on 20 year's experience. I have worked in most of the press disciplines: reporter, feature writer, sub, including chief sub, supplement editor. I have worked on local and national newspapers and magazines,

As chief sub for a local London paper I managed a team of nine subs plus freelancers to produce three paid-for and four free newspapers a week. I led a redesign and relaunch and was integral to the team that moved on to QuarkXpress.

As supplement editor I produced full-colour magazines, sponsored by education quangos, which involved liaising with senior executives over their needs, while maintaining the journalistic integrity of product.

I am owner/director of a contract publishing company that produces annual reports and magazines for public sector and charitable organisations, so I have experience of liaising with clients over their products.

I am generally considered calm and cheerful, and unruffled by pressing deadlines. I work well as part of a team, whatever my place in its hierarchy, but I also flourish when asked to work on my own, confident enough of my abilities to use my initiative. I am fully committed to equal opportunities and very sensitive to diversity issues. I always work quickly and accurately.

I am particularly interested in politics, both national and international, prefer X-Factor to Strictly Come Dancing, and support Preston North End. I am also chair of governors at a local primary school.
