About me

I have been working as a freelance graphic designer since 2009. This started whilst I was still at University and has continued ever since. University gave me the opportunity to work on a variety of live briefs, many of which I was commissioned for including promotion for a high profile Amnesty International fundraiser and the re-branding of Stanwix Arts Theatre. Clients since have included Glasgow based renewable energy company Green3Energy and Manchester based Nixor Recruitment consultants.

Working has a freelance has helped me work to realistic briefs and outcomes, timescales and budgets are major restrictions that University briefs don't give you, however I have coped well and clients are always satisfied with the outcome offered. Most recently I have been working with a team of in-house designers for West Cumbria's largest further education provider, Lakes College West Cumbria. Within this position I have had to produce a variety of items for print, from the formal Strategic Review to a DM campaign to attract employers to join the apprenticeship scheme. Working within existing brand guidelines is part of the course and is something which I like to respect, I enjoy pushing my creativity to fit well within a brand but offer up clients something fresh to look at.

As well as design I have worked in retail for approx 10 years at sales assisstant and senior sales levels, I have always created strong relationships with customers and find it exciting working with a variety of personalities. Other experience includes B2B sales, market research and publicity assistant.

I am now looking to further my career as a graphic designer by joining a studio, working with a variety of clients each day and being put through my paces as a designer.
