About me

To whom it may concern,

My name is Alex Girardi and I have just graduated from the University of Limerick, Ireland, with a first class honours B.Sc in Digital Media Design. I am very interested in the junior digital artworker, as I feel that I can provide excellent skills for the job, while it also provides me with an opportunity to see a new part of the world.

I am proficient in using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Muse, having worked close and extensively with them throughout my four years at university. I am also familiar with AutoCAD, Solidworks and SketchUp, using the latter two for 3D printing and modelling purposes.

I spent three months working as an IT support engineer for a large group of hotels. As I was the sole IT support engineer, my responsibilities were vast and varied, some of which I think stand me in good stead to tackle this test developer position. These include:

- Writing Python code from scratch for use in a Linux environment.

- Implementing this code to be used with a Raspberry Pi - providing a music hub which could then be used throughout all of the hotel's establishments.

- Testing this code to ensure each function ran correctly.

- Strict timekeeping to adhere to deadlines and make sure each task was completed in time.

- I was self-motivated in this role, as I had to recognise what task needed to be completed with the most urgency as I had multiple projects running simultaneously.

My next relevant work experience for this position was a seven month work placement in a web design and SEO office. My responsibilities here included:

- Writing SEO clean HTML, CSS and PHP code to be used on client's website.

- Working closely with clients to meet very tight deadlines.

- Working to high pressure deadlines as clients required weekly updates to their websites.
