About me
To whom it many concern,
I am writing this covering letter in regards to the position of Photographer / Retoucher
I am currently a photographer / Retoucher for Zulily in the head of Europe UK office. It is my responsibility to shoot the product that comes into the studio including both women's and children's wear as well as footwear and home accessories. As well as shooting the product we also shoot a portion of the product on model. On a day to day basis I split my time shooting product and editorials and the other half retouching the imagery to go live on the website. This includes editing product to make the background 100% white and previously grey and general cleaning up of dust spots and scratches to backgrounds and product and adding reflections when needed.
Furthermore, other aspects of retouching have included colour-matching products shot in-house or from a vendor. If colours have been distorted while shooting or there are some colours that are hard for cameras to pick up. This process ensures that colours are consistent throughout imagery. We also use an array or actions to aid the process of cropping to maintain file size specifications and to save multiple versions for web and archive.
In addition, with my experience I feel I would be a valuable asset to the studio as during busy periods I have worked in both Photography and the Retouching department has enabled me to be able to liaise with both departments. This includes ensuring that product is shot and out of the studio as soon as possible and with the photo editors ASAP. This means that any product shots that are missing or that need to be reshot can be done before an event goes live. As days in the studio are often very busy shooting product / retouching imagery for events that often go live the next day. I have been able to adapt to working in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines that often require a team effort to get shot, edited and uploaded to the website.
Thank you for this opportunity and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Regards
Alex Kennedy
