About me
I have recently graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a First-Class Honours degree in Photography and I would relish the opportunity to further my passion and broaden my skillset and knowledge working in this exciting environment.
As part of my extensive photography experience, I have assisted many photographers, such as editorial photographer Owen Harvey on location shoots and celebrity photographer Magnus Hastings in a professional studio - providing me with invaluable experience. My varied practice has enabled me to broaden my communication skills whilst developing professional relationships with a variety of creatives such as models, make-up artists and stylists, skills I can apply and enhance to this position. Similarly, whilst studying at University, I frequently located studio space, sourced and collaborated with models and make-up artists to produce images within a studio setting, arranging and organising the appropriate studio lighting.
Currently working as an Interior Design Assistant at Distinctive Makers, I am able to continuously use and extend my creative skills, and have, for example, designed a variety of soft furnishings for sale, such as cushion covers. I was recently promoted to manage the company's retail outlet, and amongst my duties I handle all customer enquiries, ensuring their high-level expectations are managed and met, provide creative ideas and solutions to customer interior design issues and process orders, liaising with design companies. Additionally, I have responsibility to manage the window display to create a visually striking and impactful presentation of the company's luxury items. My responsibilities also include the management of the images displayed on the company website. I capture e-commerce style photographs of all saleable products for use on the website and social media pages, whilst also maintaining and organising the site, editing product information individually and in bulk.
At university, as part of the exhibition planning team, with a key objective to combine and develop my organisational and management skills alongside my creative and photography practice, it was my responsibility to project manage and organise student exhibitions both on campus and at venues in and around London. My responsibilities included creating striking advertising to promote the exhibitions to the university's 24,000 students, fundraising, locating external studio space and costing and budgeting for these events. The role afforded me the opportunity to successfully deliver the projects on time and on budget whilst managing expectations.
Additionally, through my work experience at DMB Represents, a photography and moving image agency, I was given the responsibility to restructure and analyse the company database to improve efficiency and clarity, a system which was adopted by the company. Similarly, my work at Ideal Insights as a Production & Administrative Assistant, enabled me to gain invaluable experience working under pressure to tight deadlines, with responsibility for maintaining and updating the company website, handling all telephone enquiries, whilst independently undertaking all administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the office.
I am a very hard-working and committed individual with strong values and rigorous organisational skills with a creative approach to solving problems, which I feel I would transfer positively to this position. The role of a Photographer is pivotal in building and maintaining awareness and reputation, and to communicate a company's message. As a strongly motivated individual, I would relish the opportunity to become your photographer, applying my skills, photographic passion and determination, taking on new challenges in such an exciting environment.
