About me

I am a motivated, enthusiastic and driven product designer, currently undertaking a Bachelor of Arts degree in Product Design at the University of Salford. I will complete this in June 2012 and I am predicted to achieve a 2:1 classification. I am a creative thinker and enjoy using the design process to see an idea through from inception to completion. I find this aspect of Product Design extremely rewarding. I am computer literate in both Windows and Mac OS and well versed with the associated software such as Microsoft Office and iWork. My degree has enabled me to develop advanced skills in sketching, creating 3D CAD design using SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite, and specialising in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I have found these programmes to be valuable to my development and have spent considerable time perfecting these skills in my leisure time. As a dedicated member of a team, I can use my own skills to compliment others to create the best outcome from any project brief. My dissertation/final project involved designing hand sanitizers for the National Health Service. My group has been requested to exhibit our design at New Designers in London in July this year.

I have been employed part-time at Morrisons supermarket as a Sales Assistant for the past four years whilst studying for A-levels and my degree. During my employment, I have achieved a Level 2 Diploma in Retail Skills as part of the Skills First Scheme. Whilst being employed in this post, I have developed many necessary skills which are transferrable to any work place setting. During this time, I have excellent attendance and punctuality records, both at Morrisons and at University, demonstrating my reliability. As my role involves dealing with the general public, I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and I am honest and trustworthy. I am flexible with working arrangements working unsociable hours as required and I am always willing to cover shifts at short notice.

I am able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team. I am also able to show initiative and can work well alone. I am able to demonstrate leadership skills and am frequently requested to be Supervisor of my department, which requires that I supervise my team.

I have a clean driving licence and my own vehicle. I can supply references from my university lecturer and my employer if required.
