About me
I am an Industrial Designer with a Masters degree in Branding and over ten years experience developing and managing projects in industrial, architectural and graphic design.
I have worked within both the creative and management areas of design, directing the research, development and production stages of projects for small and medium enterprises in Colombia and the USA. I am now seeking an opportunity in the UK through which I can further contribute to the development of creative industries.
I started working as production manager at High Lights S.A, an architectural lighting company in Colombia, where I successfully managed a team of 50 to deliver the production and installation of the 2005 Christmas lighting project for the city of Bogotá, population of 8 million.
Following that, I had the opportunity to found and run a design studio. As founder and director of my own studio I was involved in every step of project development: from the commercial area, finding new clients; to the administration and management of budgets; guiding the development and production processes; and ensuring client and consumer satisfaction. I managed and oversaw the production and delivery of over 20 projects, revenues ranging between $500 and $10,000 USD.
I have also contributed to the development of organisations such as The International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC), by providing strategic communications expertise and support to staff and leading the effective delivery of the organisation's brand. More recently I have been engaged with the Friends of IAHPC Campaign; a communication strategy aimed at increasing awareness, recruiting new donors and promoting the work of IAHPC across the non- medical community. Working closely with the organisation's staff and key stakeholders, I developed a website and I currently collect, edit and manage the delivery of bimonthly updates.
I am a self-starter who constantly seeks opportunities to develop professionally and apply design skills in different contexts. In Colombia I volunteered at Fundacion CINDA, an organisation for hearing-impaired children, where I taught art workshops and designed marketing strategies to raise funds. In the UK I have volunteered at The Back Up Trust developing graphic work to consolidate their new brand.
Design and people skills, self-discipline and organisation have allowed me to successfully manage projects on a national and international basis. I am certain that the combination of my skills, experience and professional training will allow me to contribute to the development and growth of any organisation.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read about my experiences. I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Alejandra Ospina
