Dear Sir/Madam

I'm interested in applying for the role of Copywriter.

Currently I am a freelance journalist working for industry magazines Music-News and Film-News. recently I've covered Hideout Festival in Croatia and Mawazine Festival in Morocco - interviewing the likes of Mariah Carey, Simian Mobile Disco and Radio 1's DJ Heidi in the process.

Previous to this I worked in Publishing as a Project Manager, where I was responsible for the creation of supplements that run into the national press. My role involved writing press releases, securing additional distribution, overseeing the angle and theme of all editorial, locating interview sources and artwork, commissioning journalists, putting together media kits and creating personalised pitches to a wide variety of clients. I organised funding, liase and pitch to buying teams and advertisers and co-ordinate the end to end project on tight deadlines. Much of my job therefore encompassed both the same organisational and editorial ability that the role advertised requires.

Previous to this position I worked in Financial Recruitment, and have therefore attained via continuous interaction with bankers and consistent monitoring of the financial news a sound understanding of the corporate world and the relationships between businesses and sectors of industry. I am also therefore used to multiple account management, running hot to tight deadlines and working to often challenging specifications.

In addition to my current journalist work, my previous experience involves work for Ministry of Sound as a radio presenter and Esquire magazine as a subs intern. I am therefore familiar with aspects of the world of media.

I feel my experience in writing reviews, writing press releases, liaising with journalists, and working day to day with the press, PR companies and marketing executives within major businesses has gained me a wide range of skills that I could put to good use in this position.
