About me
Introductory Profile
Dear Sir or Madam....
My name is Alan Stafford Jones I have taught English as a Foreign Language for the past 20 years, since taking the R.S.A. Diploma course in TEFL at South Devon College of Arts and Technology in the U.K.in 1984. At that time I taught at the college on British Council and Eurocentre programmes. I have extensive experience in many fields of English Language Teaching (inc. EAP, ESP and EBP ) as my attached C.V. amply demonstrates, and am experienced in teaching the TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS. I have taught approximately 30 different nationalities, but the bulk of my experience has been in Indonesia where I worked for seven years.
Much of my work there involved preparing students for overseas study in American, British and Australian universities. I was an Academic Director of E.L.T.I., and Head of English at Gandhi Int'l School. I also taught English to Japanese company executives and bank and insurance personnel in Jakarta. My main interest was then in Materials Development, and I succeeded in producing a substantial amount of original and innovative reading and writing comprehension material for self-access study, suitable for study skills and I.E.L.T.S./T.O.E.F.L. training. I still retain this material in laminated work-sheets.
Later, in Saudi Arabia, I became involved with Testing and the devising of Testing Materials for trainee pilots and mechanics at Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation, working in Corporate Training and Development and for Information Systems. I created MS Powerpoint presentations to illustrate the assignments which I had been requested to produce. I consider these two areas of work - materials and course development, and testing development - as the highlight of my teaching activities.
Having resided in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Ireland , Spain and lastly the Philippineswe settled in the UK in May 2006.
I should be interested to hear of any suitable position.
Yours Truly,
Alan S. Jones
