About me
I am currently running design agency in Swansea, which specializes in brand identity and marketing. I have produced a number of brand identities, direct mail send outs and web sites for a range of businesses. I am the lead designer and over see all the accounts I am currently working on an online vintage fashion store.
I am fully experienced in Mac programmes, including adobe design suite Quark Express, PowerPoint and Dreamweaver.
I graduated from Kingston University with a 2.1 degree in Graphic Design. During my three-year degree course, I achieved success and kudos through my ability to design and create in an innovative yet commercial way. I achieved national recognition by winning a prestigious RSA award for sustainable packaging, which
has been presented to a number of blue chip companies as an eco friendly alternative. I feel this is evidence of my ability to bring fresh new ideas to wherever I work. I also independently produced a series of thought provoking photographs which portrayed the shocking speed at which breast cancer can develop.
These were commended and displayed in Paul Arden's Gallery and publicised in The Guardian, and are due to feature in a commemorative book on Paul Arden this year. I thrive on ideas and have the ability to translate an emergent thought into a fully fledged idea, be it for advertising, marketing or designing a new product or brand. Therefore I was honoured to be asked to independently produce the Kingston
fashion degree look-book. The project involved 40 students work and was presented to guests at the fashion show in Whitehall.
I get excited by challenges and I constantly scamping design ideas because I am passionate about leaving my own individual mark on design. I work well as a member of a team as well as being self motivated and I can lead as well as listen and learn from others, modifying my views to reach a common consensus where appropriate. These qualities were demonstrated when I was employed by Live & Breathe. I worked on design projects for a number of retail brands including Dorothy Perkins, Zavvi, Hitec and Bluewater shopping centre. While I was there I helped in producing a sale campaign for Zavvi; designing an
environmentally friendly shopping bags for Bluewater and a window display for Hitec all of which were
extremely well received.
My time at Random House Publishers as an in-house designer gave me full experience of meeting deadlines and operating to schedules. I believe these skills to be invaluable and have brought them to my subsequent positions. I also enjoyed the challenge of working on a number of projects at the same time. Whilst working for Jagger Print I had to discuss clients' design needs and produce cost effective design quotes for their printing jobs. During this period I enhanced my negotiating skills to achieve the most cost effective printing for high quality results. I also developed a much greater awareness of the print processes which saved me a lot of time when dealing with other print studios. I thrive on facing new creative challenges and have over the past year collaborated with a published novelist on an illustrated story-book which is currently in the hands of a literary agent in London and due to be published. I believe one never stops learning and I am keen to develop my skills even further.
