About me
I'm a creative director who is as much art as I am copy. I've worked above, below, on, through and even astride the line, from TVC to POS, digital to direct mail and events both indoors and out. I think standing up, laterally, in 2D and 3D, in bits and in bytes. Sometimes out of the box but always within the brief. The only thing I haven't done, is wear a sandwich board but give it time.
I've done shoots on planes for Royal Jordanian, to every piece of point of sale you can cram into a newsagent for the National Lottery. iPhone Apps for Burger King to make and name your own burger, to heat reactive furniture for Maxim's hot sauce. I've ridden in the back of a van, delivering Kent cigarettes to kiosks around Cairo at 5 in the morning, while researching for British American Tobacco and arranged and participated in pumping Pepsi parties on the Mediterranean Coast. I've conceived Subaru Impreza 3D billboards and Subaru Pimp my Ride events. Arranged and presented a cinema gala premier for MobiNil, to launch its new mobile SMS service to Valentine Day parties at the Intercontinental for Allianz Insurance. Launched Toyota World Club and social media (facebook) BMW MINI missions for U.K. universities.
When I'm not coming up with ideas, one of my greatest creative pleasures is hiring and inspiring new talent to mould into effective creative departments. I also liaise well across other department to mutually achieve the best creative product we can for our clients. This of course means a good relationship with our clients and if that means long hours spent discussing strategy and brand positioning over a lunch or boardroom table, so be it.
Apart from advertising, I'm a writer at heart. I have written two novels and a comedy diary about my pet peasant, Peat. I also design thought provoking furniture, invent and compile art and social installations through my company Domestic Sculpture. This includes proposals for the Natural History Museum where you 'Walk through Time and around History'. A path around the museum that is inlaid with a time line of fossil footprints to
'Water Speakers'; an installation I invented for bars and nightclubs, that I'm now proposing to pitch to London's Capital Radio as a public interactive sculpture. And even after all that, I still find time to paint.
