About me

Personal Statement

By Adam Dillon

I have always been interested in Art and Design and have never really considered anything else as a career. I studied Art and Design at George Orwell Secondary School and came away with good grades and a base of good knowledge on the subject.

In college, I gained distinctions and merits in modules of Art and Design. I was able to understand the commitment involved in following brief requirements, which I enjoyed participating in.

College taught me Computer Aided Design skills including typing, knowledge of software packages (Word, Excel) and researching resources; for example, primary and secondary.

At college and in my own time I have also taught myself a range of technical skills and techniques in graphics by using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

I have gained skills in 2D Visual Language, 3D Visual Language, Painting, Sculpture, historical and contemporary references, working to set Briefs, Visual Communication and Meaning, Professional Practise and Progression, Creating and Developing ideas, Plan and Realise finished work, Human-Scale working and Surface Pattern and variation pieces of work.

I am a fairly quiet but confident person and I am enthusiastic about my approach to work.

I can work independently and as a part of a team. This works because I can use my own initiative to be creative and to develop ideas for a chosen task. By using different materials and techniques I am able to solve various problems. I am dedicated to projects and set tasks,

well organised and can meet deadlines to show a good body of work. I can do this on an academic and employment level.

My most recent full-time employment has given me the ability to understand graphics, typesetting, images (colour and Black and white), copying, prostration and print techniques.

It has also built upon my people skills as I dealt with customer's queries, pricing and repeats on a daily basis.

I have travelled to the UK, Ireland and America meeting different people and making new friends.

My chosen career path is in Art and Design. I would like to build upon my academic skills and training to build my career to an advanced level in Art and Design, Graphics.
