About me
Hi, I'm a Graphic Designer who has experience of being a Designer at the leading fishing retailer in Europe - Angling Direct.
I learned many skills whilst in the role such as:
1) Working fast (whilst still producing quality work) due to having to hit tight
deadlines.
2) Mastering Adobe, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
3) Liaising with clients professionally, so I knew exactly what they required from the work I produced for them. (Even though I worked for Angling Direct, we worked closely with major clients in the fishing space such as Shimano, Diawa and Fox to name a few.)
I also helped build Angling Direct's own brand Advanta. This was one of the most important skills I learned. It showed me how to build a brand from the bottom up, which will benefit your company if you ever need me to help you build a brand from scratch.
After all, you need someone who understands brand-strategy. And my experience building the Advanta brand (as well as the other more established brands I worked on) taught me a ton about strategy.
Now, you might be wondering what specific roles and duties I performed
I performed a wide variety of roles, so no matter what you require me to do, I should have experience of doing it. Though even if I don't, I'm a fast learner. I'll pick it up quickly.
Here are just a few examples of the roles I performed:
* Advertising new product ranges in top fishing retailer magazines like CarpOlogy.
* Producing store graphics which included point-of-sale and front-window displays. (These tasks were particularly important because as an ever-expanding company, stores were opening on a monthly basis.)
* Designed the graphics for newspaper ads, magazines and flyers to increase brand-awareness and drive people to our stores.
* Social media ad graphics which play a huge role in click-through-rates (As a company we did a lot of testing.)
* Produced a document every month showing the company's hierarchy where our
customers were coming from. (As well as which advertising platforms were giving us the most 'bang-for-our buck'.)
* Monthly and weekly competition web graphics which included photography shoots and sometimes location videos.
* Repackaging the full Advanta range with unique photographs and graphics for each
product, with a huge focus on layout and typography.
* Plus a whole lot more.
In other words, I believe I'm the perfect person to help grow your business.
To further prove that point, I'll attach my portfolio. You'll find it in the "PS" section of this letter at the bottom. Though before you check it out, read the rest of this letter first because I'm going to tell you even more reasons how I can help your business grow.
You see, my main interest is perfecting a design for its intended audience.
The goal with Graphic Design is to ultimately build brand awareness so...
a) more people know your brand...
b) more people engage with your brand...
c) because of the above two points - more people buy from you.
Therefore when you hire me, you'll be getting someone experienced who can help your business grow fast.
Another reason why I'm perfect for this job is the fact I'm reliable. I've never missed a deadline. And from your point of view, I bet there's nothing more frustrating than hiring someone who doesn't finish their work on time.
Other points:
I've got a degree in Graphic Design from NUA (Norwich University of the Arts) which is a prestigious university in the UK. I'll be able to take what I learned here... combine it with what I learned whilst working at Angling Direct... and create amazing graphics work for you.
I hope this answers your main questions. Email me at if you have any more.
I look forward to hearing from you,
All the best,
Aaron Cranfield
