About me
I am a 23 year old Printed Textiles graduate with a strong focus on colour and pattern, designing works for cushions, accessories and framed prints. At University, I specialised in digital Print Design which taught me typical Graphic Design skills such as using InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. I am therefore experienced in both Graphic and Textiles Design. I also collaborated with students from different creative courses, i.e. Graphic Design and Photography, which allowed me to learn about working with different designers and photographers.
Having been born and raised in the Middle East, my work takes inspiration from Textiles all over the World, including India, Iran, Indonesia and North and Southern Africa. The complex repeat patterns and bold colour palettes I saw as a child greatly inspired me to become a Textiles Designer.
Since graduating in 2016, I have worked in a cafe and continued to refine my practice on the side, selling pieces to friends and family and gaining some freelance experience. I have also had one work placement where I gained experience of designing cushions for an Interior context, working to someone else's specifications. This placement taught me a lot about the Retail, Interior and Fashion industry and allowed me to grow in confidence, and my practice to become more professional.
