About me

Hello, my name is James Stanley, just a quick note to introduce myself.

As a freelancer I get involved in all aspects of design, from pitch work for clients including PwC and Virgin Money, to finalising a Wedding Magazine for print.

I have been working as a graphic designer for 14 years, having graduated with an HND in graphic design from Bedford college in 2003. I worked for a number of publishing companies before joining Bedfordshire County Council as Senior Designer in 2006. I held that position for 4 years as the council merged with others to form Central Bedfordshire Council. This involved exciting work creating a new brand identity for the council, working alongside a team of internal designers as well as external creative agencies.

In 2010 I decided to use my accumulated skills, experience and contacts to go freelance. It was a great decision to make as I have worked on a wide variety of projects and improved my skill set further. My main contracts include producing a bi-annual wedding magazine - The Wedding Planner, and working for a B2B content marketing agency - Grist who's clients include Virgin Money, DAC Beachcroft and JLT.

I form working relationships easily and this has helped greatly as a freelancer where I frequently work with new people. Most importantly being freelance has given me an entrepreneurial spirit, I quickly learned the importance of marketing myself and how to manage a business.
