About me

Musical director Ellen Bowen has facilitated award-winning performances of such classics as Fiddler on the Roof and Hello, Dolly! at Michigan's Grosse Pointe Community Theatre. She is also highly involved in the not-for-profit world through her role as executive director of the Metropolitan Academy of Performing Arts. In this position, Ellen Bowen develops and evaluates programs, directs performances, and teaches private voice lessons.

In addition, Ellen Bowen is pursuing a professional certificate in nonprofit management and grant writing from the University of Notre Dame. The certificate will complement her master of music from Oakland University and her master of science in education from Butler University. Her background in higher education also includes a period as a professor of music at Macomb Community College.

Early on, Ellen Bowen studied at Christian College (now Columbia College), where she secured her associate of arts with honors in music, social studies, and theater. She then enrolled at Ball State University, which awarded her a bachelor of science in music and social studies.
