ABOUT

Concept
I am fascinated by the ways humans interact with their environments. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures and perspectives around the world. My love for this was what inspired this project I completed for a studio class in my Freshman year of university.

For the content of the zine, I began by using photos that I had collected from my travels. I chose images from a library of landscapes, cityscapes, and people. I manipulated the images in Photoshop and attempted to draw the focus towards the connections I saw between people and places. By placing landscape images within human bodies, I was implying that people carry memories of places with them wherever they go.

Later, I asked friends of mine to send me photos of places they had travelled to in order to widen the perspective from my own experience to one that is shared with others. This added a personal touch to the project and made it one of sentimental value to me.

After manipulating the photos, I wrote a creative writing piece that would act as the script for the video version of the zine. You can find this piece on my website.
