The 'Kiri' series was designed in response to a brief set by British furniture manufacturers Ercol, who asked me to ‘create a new language’ for the brand through the use of upholstery.
On surveying Ercol’s existing ranges it became clear that this was a company devoted to the creation of beautifully made timber structures. With a view to celebrate this tradition, the semi-transparent upholstery - a white polypropylene mesh - serves to emphasise, rather than hide structure, drawing attention to the exquisite craftsmanship integral to the brand, whilst adding comfort.
