I was delighted to be commissioned by Molteni&C’s headquarters in Italy to create a Chinese New Year-themed illustration and animation. The concept began with research into Gio Ponti’s home, the brand archive, and Molteni&C stores, where the idea of “returning home” gradually took shape.

Guided by Gio Ponti’s iconic horse motif, the journey unfolds from London back to Shanghai. As Lunar New Year’s Eve approaches, the atmosphere of the season becomes perceptible through subtle changes in everyday life.

To reflect this progression, the color palette transitions from soft orange-pink to deep burgundy red, tracing a visual journey from departure to reunion. Through this gradual shift, the emotional intensity builds layer by layer, echoing the growing sense of anticipation and warmth associated with the festival.
