ABOUT
CONTEXT & CHALLENGE:
After the successful sale of Foundry4 to TPX Impact, well respected data solution experts Sacha Rook and James Herbert wanted to create and launch a new venture. The two founders were keen to ensure their new business was built on solid foundations and knew that to make the impact they needed from the off, they couldn’t afford to look like a startup.
Their brand was going to need to do plenty of heavy lifting. The challenge was to get under the skin of what their business should stand for and how they should position themselves in the marketplace to achieve the necessary impact from the word go.
INSIGHTS:
“Data is one of the world’s most valuable assets, yet much goes unused.”
This sentence was said during one of the brand strategy workshops that we held with the founders and their leadership team.
This was the first time they’d all been in a room together so understanding the viewpoints and being clear on the problems that the business wanted to solve was the bedrock to building any kind of brand purpose.
Today, most organisations are not short of data. The problem is that much of it remains inert, sitting in a ‘data graveyard’ rather than acting as a working asset. The opportunity cost is immeasurable. This insight led us to the positioning:
“We turn data into your most powerful advantage.”
RESULT:
We chose the name ‘Pivotl’ for the new brand because making the correct decisions with data is imperative if a business is to make a positive and lasting impact on its growth. Pivotal decisions are easier to make when you have the confidence gained from Pivotls big data solutions.
Big data is a serious business and that’s why the look of the brand needed to feel confident and to the point, but with a human and levelheaded personality. The need for Pivotl to look credible out of the blocks was of upmost importance and we achieved this with a clinical look that has its roots in B2B but with B2C creative sensibilities.
