With a BA (Hons) Commercial Photography degree, I am skilled in the use of SLR cameras. Particularly confident in a studio environment, working with strobe studio lighting, I have experience working to strict briefs and tight deadlines. Planning shoots from start to end this involved casting creative teams, sourcing and gathering props and retouching images for print and online.
I have previous experience working full time within a photographic studio, Sunbeam Studios. Here, I was in charge of the upkeep and maintaining of multiple studios, responsible for directing freelancers and training new starters, assisting the various clients as an on hand photographer's and lighting assistant and played a key role in organising the catering team, ensuring all clients are refreshed and taken care of at all times. This role also trained me in set building, where I learnt to canvas and build up to 12x12ft flats, maintain coves to a high quality and ensuring the complete prop list was sourced and all props were organised and in shooting condition. Alongside these responsibilities I was responsible for liaising with various external companies to organise transport for crew and organising deliveries. Working in such a fast paced, target driven environment allowed me to witness the entire process from pre-production to production, encouraging me to work well under pressure to extremely tight deadlines.
Having worked as a Photography and Video assistant/second camera man, for brands as big as Google and Gore-tex I have further developed my lighting skills, being relied upon for various lighting techniques to create a range of moods and ambiances and for ease in post production cut outs. I have also been on set as a digital operator, ensuring that all files are saved into the correct locations, the camera is tethered correctly ensuring a smooth workflow and that all files are backed up efficiently. Working on location, having a full UK driving license has allowed me to be trusted with the collection of props and the relocation of gear and crew. I have worked with multiple producers and various creative teams developing relationships and working well in a team.
I have a strong working knowledge of Mac systems, and am highly confident with Microsoft Office Software, Adobe Photoshop, Capture, Premiere Pro, Adobe Bridge and InDesign. Experienced in using Wacom Tablets, I am proficient in creating actions, paths, working with colour spaces, correcting colour and layering. I have seen the completion of all retouching of personal work and work for clients, including lookbook, pack shot style and campaign images.
