ABOUT
We saved this font from sinking in history. Batavier is a display typeface featured in a travel poster from 1928 announcing the route by ship between Rotterdam and London by Wm. H. Müller & Co’s Batavier Line. After researching the origins of this typeface, we surprisingly discovered that it was an industrial typeface that was trendy in between 1910 and 1930 in USA, Netherlands, Germany and Hungary and similar versions were used in several advertisements, leaflets and lettering.
New Batavier is a revival of that magnificent font which was completed by Yarza Twins in 2016 with the desire to avoid its oblivion in history. Daughter of De Stijl design and constructivism, Batavier combines classic geometric shapes with sharp angles that bring it back to the edge of contemporary design.
