CAN WE HUG? I was contacted by TBWA Belgium to create an illustration for an awareness campaign.Their client Plan International, wanted a national conversation discussing when and in which situations is it appropriate to touch or have intimate contact? Highlighting that some people (un)consciously may abuse their position or power to step out of line. Even if intentions are good, it's good to consider certain boundaries.
I wanted to highlight the context in which a hug or other intimate contact could be considered inappropriate. It's always good to reflect and see who you're interacting with before entering someone's personal space. It's not always appropriate or a good idea. Various reasons can lay at the basis of this, like how good do you know each other, age, work hierarchy, etc. The snake and the bird symbolise this imbalance.
