ABOUT

The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world but most people didn’t know. If we’re going to tackle the climate and nature crises, then we need to start saving the one place we all call home. Nature is our life support system. It’s the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and it’s the wildlife we love and need.

Which is why in March 2023 we launched ‘Save Our Wild Isles’, a first of its kind integrated campaign between WWF-UK, the RSPB, and the National Trust.

Aiming to inspire, educate and kick start action with the UK public. The campaign runs until early 2024 but we have already seen some incredible results including…
• Our media coverage has reached people over 1.58 billion times. With our media partnership with Reach plc aimed at new diverse audiences reaching 18.8m, including 130 front pages.
• Wild Isles TV series carried powerful nature-loss narrative due to our charities’ involvement and has had over 12 million views so far.
• The Saving Our Wild isles complimentary documentary is helping normalise access to and action for nature. It’s in the top 10 streamed docu-series on BBC iPlayer with over 650,000 views.
• The TV series and SOWI documentary featured on Gogglebox, reaching mass new audiences with campaign messaging.
• SOWI community fund groups have collectively raised over £2m for nature action via the community fund. This comes from 10k individual donors, plus the Aviva match-funding, which has given away over £1m to communities across the UK.
• The launch of the People’s Plan for Nature – the result of the UK’s first ever national citizens’ assembly on nature.
• Over 220 organisations have hosted SOWI business film screenings, including major corporates and influential institutions, such as. Nestle, Pepsi Co, Aviva, PWC, M&S, Premier League, OVO, and Blackrock.
• We’ve engaged senior political figures across all 3 main parties. We’ve lobbied hundreds of MP’s, held a major parliamentary event, and had a strong presence at party conferences. All to ensure that action for nature is part of all main parties upcoming election manifestos.

More content will be launching in the coming months, so watch this space and get in touch if you’d like to help amplify the campaign and increase its impact.
