ABOUT
On New Year's Eve, the Puerto Rican media is flooded with Christmas carols and messages of congratulations and prosperity. But in this festive atmosphere there are also messages of caution about how a moment of happiness can quickly turn into a tragedy.
Every year irresponsable gun owners "celebrate" the new year by firing their guns to the air. A dangerous practice that has claimed many lives. The loss of victims like 15 year-old Karla Michelle Negrón from Trujillo Alto, or 14 year-old Francisco Javier Cancel from Bayamón, have moved the country to unite in a single call: "No más balas al aire" (No more bullets in the air)
It is common to see efforts by the government, churches, NGOs and private enterprise to prevent tragedies. MVP joins the call creating awareness with this social responsibility campaign.
