Los Angeles, CA, June 3, 2024 – Partizan has added filmmaker Yoni Lappin to its roster of directors in the US. Lappin’s history of crafting intimate character studies immersed in culture has made him a sought-after director for cutting-edge musical artists, fashion designers, and international brands.
As a self-taught director and photographer, Lappin’s style is innately raw and youthful in its visuals and execution. Raised multi-nationally in Israel, New York, and London, Lappin’s global perspective blends an array of cultural touchpoints to create new images and approach stories from unique angles. His taste for the personal and philosophical can be seen in his film for the Adidas “1000 Original Stories” campaign, which profiled many underdog stories from South Londoners, all of whom were influenced by Adidas. Other commercial films from Lappin include work with leading brands like Lacoste, Captain Morgan, HP, Vogue, Häagen-Dazs, Converse, and JW Anderson, as well as recent forthcoming projects for Amazon and Hennessey.
Early on, Lappin worked at a record label where he was given the opportunity to create a promo video, blending his love for music and film and changing the trajectory of his career. His ability to capture the feeling of youth translated to many collaborations with electronic music artist Mura Masa, including popular music videos like “Deal Wiv It, “Love$ick” featuring A$AP Rocky, and “What If I Go,” which earned a Vimeo Staff Pick. He went on to direct music videos for superstars Usher, Post Malone, Charli XCX, Stormzy, and many others.
Lappin says of signing with Partizan, “The name Partizan and what it represents means a lot to me—they’re responsible for so many films that have influenced me. I’m a huge fan of Michel Gondry’s ‘Around The World’ music video for Daft Punk, the character Flat Eric from Quentin Dupieux, and many of my other roster mates’ work. I feel affection for the producers and other directors presently working at the company—they’re a strong group of great people, and it feels like the perfect place for me.”
Georges Bermann, Founder and Chairman of Partizan, adds, “Yoni's keen eye for human behavior and cultural patterns, combined with his unique cinematic language, allows him to create impactful and nostalgic storytelling. We are eager to support his future projects and can't wait to see what he does next.”
