ABOUT

Greener Journeys is a campaign encouraging people to make more eco-friendly travel choices and reducing CO2 emissions from transport by encouraging people to switch some of their car journeys to bus. They produce blogs, reports and events to highlight the impact travel choices can make on the world. In 2015 Greener Journeys’ wanted to give the campaign’s website a complete refresh. The site was unresponsive on mobile devices, and the purpose of the website was changing; moving from simply being a place to host a blog, to becoming a central hub of information, with reports, news posts and case studies.

Greener Journeys already had an effective brand and colour palette, well recognised within the transport industry, but becoming lost on the existing website. I wanted to bring out the brand more, giving the website more personality, to reflect the positivity of the campaign and the work the team were achieving. In order to do this, I took the brand’s existing icon library to create bold infographics, developed a colour system to make the three main content types on the site easy to navigate around (news, blog, events) and made the homepage more of a hub – where visitors could gain access to all of the information they needed from one place. I also designed the publications their own library, so that people could search and browse through the different topics clearly and easily. The website’s Wordpress build was done by the development team at Wired Canvas.
