ABOUT

On a small budget (meaning only a graphic designer with limited experience (me) was available) these posters needed to do what big name comedians do for big comedy clubs: generate immediate interest and understanding of our mission at a glance.

I insisted as little information as possible be present on the posters and flyers. No pictures. Just a little text and a solid colour. background, not only because fewer words means larger text meaning easier reading from a distance, but also to germinate interest rather than assuming it. Equally as important was that, as a comedy production company, we should at least *try* to be amusing. Few words making something funny is pretty recognisable these days as a tweet.

In terms of ticket sales, the result of the campaign was to generate a stable base of customers in the areas targeted. The jokey nature of the flyers, apparent from a glance from busy commuters, directed 'those who like a laugh' immediately towards our website. It then provided the basis for a campaign specific to each area targeted. Short jokes about Peckham/Barnes/Clapham, which got people talking, facebooking and instagramming at us and suggested a service tailored to their neighbourhood.
