About me

I am writing to apply for the above position. Please find my CV attached alongside this cover letter.

I hold a 2.1 degree in Journalism, Film & Media from Cardiff University. Currently I am a Social Media & Content Executive for a large multi-branch car supermarket based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. I work with a PR agency currently for my job and I am keen to move into the agency world, preferably within the automotive sector. A big role in my job is planning and writing content for the companies' blog. The content typically relates to road cars and driving. I also co-ordinate with a digital agency who work with me on content and SEO. I write to deadlines and co-ordinate all decisions made regarding the blog direction.

I also have a personal blog, which can be found at bingleybanter.blogspot. On there, you'll find an example of my work. Admittedly it is currently a bit neglected since I have started my current role, however posts tend to be reviews of films and television programmes and have a couple of posts relating to my favourite sport, F1. I'd be happy to show you some of my other pieces for work if you are interested. I love being creative and putting that creative energy into my writing and I know I can translate that energy into the responsibilities of this role.

The other major part of my job is social media, which I have a developed a passion for and understand its great importance in today's society. In the role I run the companies social media channels, and their sister companies channels. I work independently, planning, executing & managing daily social media posts for the both companies' respective social media channels and then analysing to see what performed well. I have designed successful social campaigns and competitions to increase the companies' social media presence. I also interact and engage with customers and respond to complaints received on these channels, maintaining the companies brand images.

I also plan, film, edit and script videos for the website and social media, which has been completely self-taught since beginning my position, showing that I can roll my sleeves up and gain new skills but also suits this role well as I have editing experience. I also have CRM experience.

As my role is largely independent, I have gained excellent self-management experience and I feel I am a confident, flexible and personable individual, with can-do attitude, who enjoys working in a team but also an independent and creative thinker. I have a good sense of humour and excellent organisational skills, and keep up to tight deadlines and tasks with strict note-taking. I believe I am fully capable of succeeding in this role as I am quick learner, love the industry and want to take the next step

I'm looking for an opportunity within a PR agency where I can develop my skills in a new position. Whilst I currently live in Yorkshire, I already greatly wish to be living in London and would happily relocate.
