Shift - Innovative Futures™ Newcastle upon Tyne

ABOUT

Brief:
As a new business providing an online platform through which home owners have the facility to sell their house without an estate agent, Lok Stok needed a concept for their launch that demonstrated how their brand was user-friendly and legal.

Development:
In order to do so, we began brand development workshops with Lok Stok. This helped us to identify the brand attributes, and understand Lok Stok's position in the market, in order to determine how it could stand out from its competitors. We worked closely alongside the client using our co-creation model to identify how the brand should feel and connect with customers.

Solution:
Since the company was a new venture, they didn't have a budget for marketing and advertising so we devised a concept for filming a viral advertising campaign. It highlighted the personal nature of selling your home and played on the idea that you're not just selling an address. Taking inspiration from the brand's name, we decided to link the viral campaign to the well-known cult classic, 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'. Drawing on the film for inspiration, the concept for the advert saw two gangsters meeting to discuss what initially appears to be an illegal deal, but what actually turns out to be one of the gangsters putting his home up for sale on Lok Stok.
