ABOUT

Agencies including Impero and m/SIX have pooled their efforts this International Women’s Day to raise hundreds of pounds’ worth of donations for Bloody Good Period, the charitable project that supplies toiletries and menstrual products to asylum centres across the UK.

Wapping-based Impero has also called on the 51 businesses located at its office buildings in Metropolitan Wharf to get involved in the International Women’s Day drive, raising an estimated £500 worth of products.

The companies include Anemoi Marine Technologies, Bottega Wapping, Cyclenation, Else London, Hawksmoor Restaurants, London Cycling Campaign, Storm Marketing, Victoria Steamship Company, Underdog Group and more.

Alex Kosterman, a creative copywriter at Impero, said: “International Women’s Day is a day for every woman, not just for the privileged few. So this year we wanted to do something meaningful for the thousands of women seeking asylum across the UK, who don’t have easy access to period products, toiletries or clean underwear.

“At Impero, we’re big supporters of the Bloody Good mission, giving women and people who menstruate one less thing to worry about when they have so much else going on in their lives. Periods are absolutely not a luxury – and no one should have to struggle to get hold of products when they can barely afford to eat.”

Gabby Edlin, Founder of Bloody Good Period, said: “The average asylum seeker receives £37.75 to live on per week. The average cost of a pack of pads or tampons is £2.37, and the average lifetime cost of having a period is £4,800. The numbers are out of whack, and we’re so grateful to organisations like Impero and m/SIX for giving something back on International Women’s Day.”

Raina Roberts, Coordinator at Bloody Good Period, said: “The past year has seen a real uplift in organised collections within the work space, which is great to see. The corporate environment can be a difficult one to bring up these types of issues but it must be done if we want to see change. It has been a real pleasure hearing about all the amazing efforts being made around International Women’s Day in and out of the work space, and we hope to see this trend continue to grow.”

Impero is a 77% female agency, with 100% gender pay parity, an all-female creative department and six out of seven departments run by women.

Abby Blackmore, Director of Operations and Talent at Impero, said: “International Women’s Day is about celebrating the women in the industry, but also the women of the world. I’m proud of the team at Impero for choosing to do some good this International Women’s Day instead of taking themselves out for lunch. Let’s help make it a Bloody Good International Women’s Day this year for those less fortunate than us.”
