ABOUT

A really fun project and lovely to be working with the very talented Scuta at Soviet Sciences again.

Scuta got in touch to ask for some help in recording a choir for this pastiche of the classic Modern Major-General’s Song from Gilbert and Sullivan’s 1879 comic opera The Pirates of Penzance.

The musical arrangement was to be as per the orchestral original but the lyrics were re-written to inspire the general public. The creatives had written some great words to replace the original lyrics and Scuta then helped mould and shape them to really create a perfect pastiche.

Ben and Scuta recorded the lead vocal and an 18 piece choir from Crouch End Festival Chorus, led by their Chorus Master, David Temple MBE at the legendary Livingston Studios in Wood Green. The choir delivered an amazing rendition of the new lyrics.

Ben then mixed the choir and music and delivered an online mix of the advert using sound design by Scramble post production.

It was real pleasure to work with everyone involved and with such a classic song.

Very proud to have recorded and mixed the music for this Cadburys advert. The project picked up best re-record at the 2019 Music and Sounds Awards. Well done Soviet Sciences and VCCP!.
